Our 5 Favorite Giant Games for Your Celebration
April 26, 2022

If your family loves to watch movies featuring bows and arrows such as Robin Hood or the Hunger Games, we have a fun activity for your next backyard party, graduation, birthday, or family reunion – Archery Tag!

This safe and fun game combines the needed agility of and aim of dodgeball with the skill and athleticism of paintball! It is the best of both worlds!

With the comprehensive Archery Tag set up, instructions, and equipment from Seacoast Events, your backyard party can go from uninspired and boring to exciting and entertaining!

What Are the Rules of Archery Tag?

Archery Tag starts by setting up two teams usually consisting of five or so players spaced on opposite sides of each other. The two teams square off with the ultimate goal of tagging the opposing team with the foam-tipped arrows as often as possible during each round. Each hit with an arrow is worth one point while catching an opposing team member’s arrow is worth a coveted 3 points. The team with the most “tags” at the end of each 7 minute session wins!

Set up consists of splitting up your playing field (discussed further below) into three sections. Two sections should be 30′ long by 50′ wide, and one area should be 20′ Long by 50′ Wide. This last area is your neutral zone that separates the two teams. No players should enter the neutral zone during play as this keeps them at least 20 feet from each other to allow for shooting or being hit by a foam arrow.

While you may want to make your own specific rules, normally each player starts with two arrows with foam tips for safety and once they use those they must gather arrows from the field of play adding a sense of danger by leaving the safety of hiding places to gather much needed arrows.

What Size Field or Backyard Do I Need?

Depending upon whether you are hosting a backyard party, a school function, or having an outing at a park, most spaces that are approximately 100’ long and about 50” wide will work for this game.

Fields, parks, gyms, multipurpose spaces, and even a typical backyard will work as long as there are no over hanging trees, poles or obstructions that could cause a safety issue.
